Four Easy Steps For Dealing With Stress

Know that you’re not alone if you’re dealing with stress or anxiety. Across the world, men and women alike are experiencing the effects of stress and anxiety. It’s okay – this is normal, and by allowing yourself to feel this way, you’re actually helping to reduce the intensity of those feelings.

Unfortunately, anxiety is something that can and does affect many people. The upside, though, is that plenty of research shows a wide variety of methods we can use to help cope with and reduce our anxiety.

Blogger Nataly Kogan of MindBodyGreen.com shares four rituals everyone should add to their daily routine to help deal with stress and anxiety:

  • Gratitude Minute

Take one minute to yourself before you begin your daily work to think about three things you’re grateful for and write them down. Research shows that introducing a dose of gratitude into your day has a variety of benefits, including helping you better cope with everyday stresses.

  • Intentional Kindness Minute

Set a goal to perform one act of kindness a day. To make sure you never forget, schedule it in your calendar. When you do something kind, your brain releases oxytocin, which makes you feel good – so remembering to do this every day will vastly improve your outlook.

  • Self Care Minute

Make sure to schedule a 10-minute break at some point in your day. Use these ten minutes to relax, slow down, take a walk, or to close your eyes and breathe. Taking breaks throughout your day can not only help your overall well-being but can also boost your productivity.

  • Ask Yourself Why

When you’re creating your daily to-do list, note how each of the things you have to do could possibly help someone else. By doing so, you’ll add purpose to these acts rather than view them as overwhelming.
