Time.com published a visual display of hats worn at the 1945 Derby. Even though the 1945 Kentucky Derby was a wet one, the rain didn’t dampen the ladies’ fashion spirits. Jockey Eddie Arcaro rode Hoop Jr. over a muddy track against a field of 15. Hoop Jr. won the race by six lengths.
