I’m sharing Valentine’s Day ideas for friends, not lovers, this year. Why? Because Valentine’s is not just for lovers. Many people celebrate the holiday with their friends. One report said that over half of Americans shopping for Valentine’s Day gifts will actually give them to someone other than a significant other, like a family member or friend. And, a whopping 20% of us will get our a pet a Valentine’s gift.

Valentine’s Day Ideas–Things To Do

Celebrate a different kind of love with your friends. Here are a few ideas for activities you can organize with friends:

  • Have a cooking or baking party
  • Make crafts together
  • Stay in and watch TV (Netflix or Acorn TV are my favorites)
  • Go bowling
  • Catch a movie
  • Do something nice for another person as a group (visit a nursing home or soup kitchen)
  • Go to a swanky restaurant – for dessert and coffee
  • Get manicures/pedicures as a group
  • Organize a “Secret Admirer” gifting session (like Secret Santa)

Love is Love

Even if you have the most amazing partner in the world, having best friends is absolutely essential, too. Show your friends some love and honor the wonderful relationship you have with them. We all need laughter, loyalty and honest affection from our friends. So, do something to celebrate your friendships on February 14.
