As the Christmas season approaches, it’s a time to reflect on the deeper meanings and stories that enrich this festive period. In the spirit of sharing a blessed Christmas greeting, I recently came across a captivating fictional account of Christ’s birth titled “Glory On” by Dr. Ralph F. Wilson, which offers a unique perspective on the nativity story.

Set in the halls of the Angel Academy, the story unfolds through the eyes of an angel, a witness to the miraculous events in Bethlehem. This angel, serving as the guest speaker at the Academy, shares his firsthand experience of the birth of Jesus. The narrative transports us to a hillside near Bethlehem, where angels, including our narrator, await in anticipation with their “glory off.”

The moment of revelation is breathtaking. Gabriel, the angel known for his work with Daniel, appears in full glory to the shepherds. His radiant appearance and the sudden burst of light initially terrify them. However, Gabriel’s message is one of joy and hope, announcing the birth of a Savior. This scene captures the essence of Christmas – a time of divine wonder and profound joy.

The story emphasizes the humility of Jesus’ birth. The Son of God, born in a stable and laid in a manger, is a powerful reminder of the simplicity and purity at the heart of Christmas. The angel’s account of the choir of angels singing “Glory to God in the highest” on the hillside beautifully illustrates the heavenly celebration of this momentous event.

As the shepherds, moved by their heavenly encounter, visit the newborn Jesus, we are reminded of the journey each of us takes to find meaning in the Christmas story. Now unseen, the angel and his mentor observe the tender scene in the stable, where Mary and Joseph gaze upon their child, the source of true glory.

This story, while fictional, resonates with the themes of wonder, humility, and joy that define the Christmas experience. It invites us to pause and reflect on the profound blessings of the season. As we share our blessed Christmas greetings this year, let’s remember the timeless message of hope and love that “Glory On” so beautifully portrays.

For a complete immersion in this enchanting narrative, I encourage you to read Dr. Wilson’s “Glory On“, a story that will surely enrich your Christmas celebrations.
