Tips on Business Attire for Women That You Can Use Today

I want to spend a few minutes visiting about business attire for women. Our appearance is critical to our success in the world of business. Whether it’s a job interview, professional event or party, your appearance is important. But with the creeping acceptance of business casual, it’s becoming harder for us to hit the mark. I recently read a post comparing business casual and professional dress and appearance.

The following infographic summarizes the tips from the post. Read the full article…

Before you shrug your shoulder and dismiss the notion of dressing for success, let me share a conversaion I had with a business lender. This commercial banker is the gate to whether a business loan makes it beyond the application phase–a key position. He shared with me that he takes note of how a loan applicant is dressed when s/he meets with him to discuss her business’ capital needs. He went on to say that he’s judging whether s/he has the commitment and ability to repay the loan and if she’s dressed too casually and acts too informal then he forms serious doubts about how serious s/he is about her business. The message I got was that the way we dress can convey ideas about our competence, skills and abilities. And, I might add that this gentleman is a banker in Austin, Texas — a very laid-back and casual city. And, I don’t want you to think that he passes judgment on women business owners only, he uses the same standard on male business owners as well.
